Why I Finally Bought a Paper Shredder (And Why You Should Consider One Too)
There are some purchases you make because you want them, and others you make because you realize you need them. For me, buying a paper shredder was about protecting my identity.
It all started when I noticed mail missing from my mailbox. At first, I assumed it had simply been misplaced. But when it happened again, I began to wonder if someone That was the day I decided it was time to stop taking chances.
Why Identity Protection Matters
Identity theft is becoming more common than ever. Criminals don't always need your Social Security number to begin committing fraud. Sometimes they collect small pieces of information from discarded mail and use them to build a profile about you.

My Best Identity Protection Tip
One simple habit has made all the difference for me. I keep my paper shredder right by my front door. As soon as I bring the mail inside, I immediately sort through it. Anything I don't need that contains my name, address, account numbers, or personal information goes straight into the shredder before I even walk away.
Why?
Because if I set the mail down "to do later," it usually ends up sitting on the kitchen counter or my desk for days—or worse, it gets tossed into the trash without being shredded.
Keeping the shredder near the front door has made protecting my family identity part of my routine. It only takes a minute, but it gives me peace of mind knowing that my personal information won't end up in someone else's hands.

Christmas 2020 has been a challenging time due to the threats of the Covid-19 pandemic. This year gave me even more reason to dress up my home and make it festive for my entire family and loved ones. With so much time on my hand and the children doing college courses from home, it was easy to get them involved in the fun.
